Shopping Centres Week 33, 2024: Footfall Data Highlights Regional Trends

Huq Industries’ latest footfall report reveals nuanced trends in UK retail centre visitation for the week ending August 25, 2024. The data, encompassing over 2,700 retail centres, highlights regional variations in footfall, dwell time, and weekday visitation shares across the United Kingdom.

Shopping Centres Daily Footfall

In terms of footfall, the North East region experienced a notable increase year on year whilst the East Midlands saw a decline.

Dwell time, which measures the average duration visitors spend at a location, also showed interesting trends. The West Midlands reported a substantial increase in dwell time suggesting that visitors are spending more time per visit across its shopping centres. Conversely, Northern Ireland saw a significant drop in dwell time year-on-year.

Weekday visitation shares, indicating the percentage of total visits occurring on weekdays, varied significantly across regions. The East Midlands reported a notable increase in weekday visitation share, while Scotland experienced a sharp decline.
