Shopping Centres Footfall Report Week 37, 2024: Dwell Time Rises in West Midlands

As of the week ending 15th September, 2024, different regions have shown varied patterns in footfall, dwell time and weekday visitation shares, reflecting the dynamic nature of consumer behaviour in these settings.

Regional Analysis

In the West Midlands, there has been a notable increase in the average dwell time, with the latest week recording 123 minutes per visit, an increase compared to the same period last year.

The South East has seen a decrease in average daily footfall week-on-week, yet there’s an overall positive trend with an 11% year-on-year increase. The East Midlands, experienced a year-on-year decrease in average daily footfall, contrasting with the positive trends seen in other regions like Wales and London, where footfall has increased on last year.

Scotland and the North West have faced challenges with decreases in both footfall and dwell time year-on-year while London had an increase in both footfall and weekday visitation shares.

The data also highlights top performers and regions facing challenges. For instance, intu Braehead in Scotland and Cribbs Causeway in the South West have shown positive changes in footfall, whereas East Midlands Outlet Junction 28 and Ashford Designer Outlet have seen declines.
