Retail Parks Footfall Report Week 34, 2024: Mixed Trends Observed

Huq Industries’ latest footfall report reveals nuanced trends in retail park visitation across the UK, highlighting regional variations in footfall, dwell time, and weekday visitation.

The North East saw a modest year-on-year increase in average daily footfall of approximately 6%, whereas the South East experienced a decrease of about 10% compared to the previous year.

Dwell times also varied, with the South East reporting a significant year-on-year increase contrasting with a slight decrease in the North East.

Weekday visitation shares shifted as well, with Yorkshire and the Humber experiencing a notable increase of nearly 14% year-on-year, while Wales saw a decrease of about 15%.

These figures underscore the dynamic nature of consumer behaviour in retail environments, influenced by a variety of factors including economic conditions, seasonal trends, and evolving shopping habits.

Market Outlook

Based on the direction of the latest footfall data and historical trends observed during the same period last year, the next four weeks could see continued variability in footfall across different regions. The South East, despite its current decline, might experience a slight recovery due to seasonal shopping patterns, with the North East expected to maintain its current growth trajectory.
